About
My first works leaned toward the literal and specific, but I quickly began to develop a looser style . . .
People like my work because it is emotionally saturated. Painting is a completely intuitive process that develops like a dance between me, the palette and the canvas. I react to what is happening as it appears. I begin with a color and a representation of the space, perhaps an impression from a visual memory that is instinctive and visceral. The lack of specificity, I’ve been told, is relaxing, sometimes calm, sometimes heated. They are place-less, yet familiar.
A lifetime of yoga, dance, choral singing and writing informs my work.
